An actor in a new film about the tragic murder of Gabby Petito defended his participation in the project.
Douglas Turrell, 50, plays Joe Pettito, Gabe’s father in the new Lifetime movie, The story of Gabi Pettitowhich was released on Saturday.
In an exclusive interview with The US Sun, Taurel admitted that he ignored issue that captivated the country last summer until he was cast in the movie.
“When the story came out, I watched it on TV, I was like the rest of the nation, but I basically ignored it because I didn’t want to watch it as a TV show because I knew it was someone’s family,” Turrell said.
“I know people have been talking about it, blogging about it, and I just felt, ‘This is actually someone’s daughter. I don’t need to watch his tragedy.'”
