Annie Werching dies at 45: Actress best known for roles in 24, Posh, Timeless

Actress Annie Wershing, best known for spots on TV shows like Timeless and 24, has died after a nearly three-year battle with cancer.

On social media, friends and family of the star confirmed Wershing’s death, which came years after he was diagnosed with cancer in the summer of 2020.

A skilled professional, Wersching continued shooting for roles in the popular series Star Trek: Picard and The Rookie despite the overwhelming speculation.

Since then, expressions of appreciation have poured in for the actress, who was only 45 years old.

Wersching is best known for her roles in several TV shows such as The Rookie (pictured), which she continued to film even after being diagnosed with cancer in 2020.

Wershing’s husband, Stephen Full, confirmed the star’s death Sunday in a statement on social media, revealing that the star had lost a bout with the debilitating illness.

“There is a cavernous hole in the spirit of this family today,” wrote Bean, who is also an actor and has three school-age children with the actress.

“But she left us the tools to fill it in,” he added. “I found amazement at the slightest moment.”

The widower continued to promote his wife’s legacy and high-profile personality.

“She didn’t need music to dance,” the 53-year-old wrote. You taught us not to wait for adventure to find you. Go find it. It’s everywhere.’ And we will come back to find it.

John Cassar, who served as director for Wersching during his stint on the popular Fox 24 drama series, also took to Twitter to remember his fallen girlfriend, who he said has already “made its mark.”

“My heart is more broken than I can count,” wrote Kassar, 64, who served as a director and producer on the show’s first seven seasons.

He continued, “Annie came into my world with an open heart and an infectious smile.” I cheered for this talent, and it took my breath away.

Annie became more than just a co-worker, she became a true friend to me, my family, and all the cast and crew members who worked with her.

They will miss her and the fans she always found time to interact with. Annie we will miss you, you made your mark, and we are all better for it.

Wersching began her acting career over two decades ago at the age of 24, quickly making a name for herself with small appearances but notable roles on shows like General Hospital and Supernatural.

Eventually in 2009, the actress got her big break playing Renee in Kassar’s long-running series 24, which catapulted her to television stardom.

She would go on to grace several other high-profile shows — including CSI, Blue bloods, and 2013’s Dallas Remake — with guest spots, before landing long-running roles on shows like Castle and The Vampire Diaries.

Then, in 2013, Wersching would play another iconic role that saw her earn cult status – lending her voice to the character Tess in the hit video game The Last of Us. The game has since been adapted into a TV show starring Pedro Pascal.

Prior to her husband’s engagement, Wershing’s death had been confirmed by a fundraiser sent out by Foll and other family members asking for financial support in the wake of the actress’ death.

Since then, Alexi Hawley, showrunner of The Rookie, and creative director of The Last of Us, has been involved with the GoFundMe campaign.

“We have just lost a beautiful artist and human being,” Druckmann wrote in his blog. “my heart is broken”.

After lending her voice to Druckmann’s coronation work — which has been likened to many films for its impressive scenes and convincing voice acting — Wersching went on to have more roles, appearing in The Vampire Diaries, Runaways, Bosch, and of course, Immortal.
