This could be the most exciting type of racing ever in the Thunder Series, and it opens it all Sunday night, May 28 at Grandview Speedway as the 34th season of the NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill racing series kicks off.

Four completely unique racing events are planned and include the famous Mods, USAC Non-Wing Sprints National Tour, Pennsylvania Sprint Speed ​​Week Series and High Limit 410 Sprints Racing for a grand prize of $23,023 for winning the 40-lap event.

The Thunder Series will open on Sunday night, May 28 with the second round of the 50-modified “Balls to the Wall” featuring 602 athletes. The “Balls to the Wall” 50 is a unique mods format that is proving to be very successful in 2022. After a series of qualifying events, a field of twenty-four mods will take the green in the main event of the 50 tournament. Offer some twists.

On lap 20, the yellow will concede and offer $1,500 to the race leader plus an additional bonus to all drivers in the top 10. The field would immediately restart, and then on lap 35, the yellow would fly again, offering $1,500 to the race leader and an additional bonus to all finishers in the top 10. The twist, on lap 20 and on lap 35, the top four positions would reverse. The winner at the end of 50 laps will earn $5,000 plus any bonus money. It is unique and brutal and will definitely add strategy to this mod event. Also in the program will be 602 athletes. Gates open at 5pm with the race scheduled for 7:30pm.

The next event is set for Tuesday night, June 13th with the always exciting AMSOIL USAC Non-Wing Sprints National Tour, titled the 40-lap Jesse Hockett Classic running the distance and paying $6,000 to win. The best USAC drivers in the country will take part in the USAC Eastern Storm’s opening night. The program’s 358 mods are also slated to participate in a series of qualifying events leading into the 30 main event spins that they will pay $3,000 to win. Race time is 7:30 p.m.

The third race of 2023 Thunder on the Hill will be the Pennsylvania 410 Sprint Week Series scheduled for Tuesday night, June 27. This event, the Hodnett Cup will go 35 laps and will pay out $10,000 to the winner. The Hodnett Cup is presented in memory of sprint car Greg Hodnett who lost his life in a racing accident several years ago. 358 Modifieds will be in the spotlight again as they go 30 laps for $3000 to win. The Thunder series finals are set for the night of Tuesday, July 25 when Levan Machine & Truck Equipment of Fleetwood, PA presents High Limits Sprints. 410 Sprints will feature this independent program and after a series of qualifiers, the green flag will drop to start the 40-lap main event which will pay out $23,023 to the winner. This is the richest win in the thirty-four year history of the NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series. The High Limits Sprint Series is a midweek racing series led by 2021 NASCAR Cup Series Champion Kyle Larson and four-time World of Outlaws Champion Brad Sweet. The mission is to grow fast car racing and inject more money into the sport. The 2023 High Limit Sprint Series will make stops at just twelve tracks, and Grandview/Thunder on the Hill is proud to be a part of this new venture.
