Bold stops Montevideo, 66-60

Jan 16 – BIRD ISLAND – Ryan King had 20 points and Jack Gross added 19 to lead the Bold Boys’ basketball team to a West Central Conference victory over Montevideo Monday night.

Andrew Myers added 14 points and four assists and William Benkert pulled down 14 rebounds for the Warriors.

Jannon Ridinger’s 14 points led Montevideo. Carson Buicky added 12 and Cooper Duck 10 for the Thunder Hawks.

Montevideo plays Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in Grove City. The West Central District Bold plays at 8 p.m. on Friday at Bird Island.

Senior guard Kegon Wicht scored his 100th career point in Dawson Boyd’s win over Renville County West in Dawson.

Wicht finished with 18 points, eight assists and five steals for blackjack, which scored five players in double figures. Drew Helmiland, a 6-foot-6 sophomore, led the way with 22 points and seven rebounds. Bryson Buick, a 6-7 sophomore, added 20 points.

Isaac Heine had 14 points to lead the Jaguars.

Kaden Pepper scored 30 points, shooting 13-for-15 from the field, in Belgrade-Protein-ElRosa’s victory over Minawaska in Protein.

Piper was 12-for-12 from 2-point range and was also 3-of-3 from the free throw line. He also had five rebounds, four steals, two pass breakups and one turnover.

Hunter Kloss scored 14 points, six rebounds and three steals for the Lakers.
