General Hospital recap: Elizabeth tells Finn she was never pregnant

Cody, Sam, and Dante meet up with Sasha and Maxie at Kelly’s. Sam asks Maxie how she’s holding up. Maxie could use some good news, so Sam tells her that Willow had her baby.

TJ, Austin, and Terry discuss Willow Bleeding in the operating room, but come through. Samples from the baby’s umbilical cord and placenta are still being tested in the lab, Terry says, and they should know how many stem cells they’ve been able to harvest soon.

Obrecht and Scott go to Brett’s office, which has been emptied. Brad appears with a paper bag, and Obrecht asks what he’s doing here. He wanted to leave something in memory of all the time he and Brett had spent here talking about their problems.

Brad laments that Brett was the only person he could be honest with, and only wishes she had told him she was dying. Obrecht explains if Brett had told him his attitude towards her would change, and she didn’t want that. She wanted her friend, not her caretaker. Scott suggests they go as the memorial is about to begin.

Scott and Obrecht go out, and Brad pulls a pint of ice cream and two scoops out of the bag. Toast spoonfuls together and dig into the ice cream. He promises to never eat ice cream, or ogle over a guy who isn’t available, without thinking about her. He packs the ice cream to go but leaves one spoon behind on the counter.

Laura stops by to see Finn to invite Violet to join her and Kevin, who are taking Liz’s kids skiing. Finn thinks she would love it, and thanks her for thinking of Violet. Laura admits it was Liz’s idea. Laura feels sorry that things didn’t work out with him and Liz, as Liz could use someone, especially now.

Finn asks if it is Jeff, but she says he is not. He immediately asks what Nicholas has done now. He quickly apologizes, but she understands. She says bonds like this one are hard for Liz and Nicholas to break.

In the hallway, Liz criticizes Nicholas about running into her mother. Nicholas’ actions shock her into town, but she tells him she knows he brought her here and why.

Liz drags Nicholas into a room, where he swears he never told Caroline any of their secrets. He says Esme never remembers better. Liz says she never wants anyone to go through what her parents did to her. She accuses him of hiding this from her because he knew she wouldn’t get along with this, and thank God her mother turned him down.

Nicholas exclaims that what’s done is done, and they’re in this together. Liz slots, “Not anymore.” She says she covered up his lies over and over again, and her mother turns out to be more trustworthy than he is. I told him the only thing she needed to protect from was him!

Liz rushes out of the room into the hall. Nicholas follows and grabs her by the arm. Laura and Finn get off the elevator as Liz yells at Nicholas, “Leave me alone!” Finn quickly orders Nicholas to let her go, while Laura is startled by her son’s behaviour. Liz asks to speak to Finn alone, so they go to his office. Laura tells her son that they need to talk too, as she’s scared to death that she can’t reach him.

Laura tells Nicholas that she knows Victor has a thing, and fears he’s becoming a man who skates from one bad decision to another. She knows the son she’s so proud of is still inside of him, a man who wouldn’t give up on his son, the man who defied Helena. Nicholas cries that he does not know where that man has gone. She tells him to dig deep to find him because she needs to know it’s not too late. Nicholas thinks she might be right. He swears he’s done with Uncle Victor, and will focus on being a good father to Esme’s baby, Spencer. He realizes that Brett’s memorial was today, so she and Nicholas rush off to try and be with Spencer.

In Finn’s office, Liz tells Finn that she has lost her best friend. She thinks she shouldn’t talk to him about it. Finn notes that they have always been there for each other, and he still cares for her. I told him he was a good person and he deserved the truth. She admits that she lied to him and was never pregnant with Nicholas’ child.

Trina runs into Nina and Sonny in the halls, and she explains that she came to support Spencer at the memorial. She relays a message from Curtis, who has had an emergency at the Savoy, and expresses his remorse. Sonny heads to the church to see Spencer, and Nina waits around for her aunt to show up.

At the church, Spencer Jordan asked what would happen if Esme was born in prison. You explain that the social service will place the child with the father or another couple. Spencer asks, “What if the father is also in prison?” Jordan wonders why Nicholas would be in prison. He says he was just considering all the possibilities. They are interrupted when Jordan takes a call and excuses herself.

Spencer sits alone and watches Nicholas’ confession on his phone when Sonny arrives. Spencer appreciates his coming and support. Sonny asks if his father will be here. Spencer doubts it. Sonny asks if he still plans to go for custody of his brother. Spencer reveals that he is more convinced than ever that his father should not have this child.

Sam, Dante, Sasha, Maxie and Cody arrive at the hospital. Dante and Sam quickly spoke to Jordan. They tell her that they are going to England tomorrow to look for old Esme’s governess. Jordan believes more than ever that these attacks are about punishing Ismi’s enemies.

Trina and the others arrive at the church, and she asks Spencer if anything happened with Jordan. He says he’s keeping his father’s confession a family matter for now.

When everyone has arrived and taken their seats, Nina gets up to speak because her aunt told her to. Nina explains that she hadn’t known Brett for long, not nearly long enough, but was proud to be part of her family. She says Brett will never be forgotten.

Brad talks afterward and talks about their history, including how selfish and mean Brett was back in the day, even setting a little girl’s doll on fire. However, after serving her time she was determined to prove that she had changed. He thinks that since they’re all here for her, maybe she did, but to him, Brett has always been and always will be his best friend.

Scott and Terry also talk about Brett, and Terry eventually tells everyone to follow her. They go to the memorial wall, where Brett’s picture is added to the wall of the doctors who served General Hospital so well.

Spencer stays at the church and tells Trina that his dad can’t even be bothered to show up. Trina says this day isn’t about his dad or him, it’s about Brett. He talks about his past with Brett, and worries that he will never meet someone who connects and understands him like I did.

Obrecht has a moment alone with a picture of Brett on the memory wall, while Maxie, Sasha, Nina and Sonny go to see the baby.

Laura and Nicholas arrive at the church too late for the memorial. Laura tells her grandson she’s sorry, and Spencer assumes that she’s late and is his father’s fault. He asks Trina to give them a moment. Once she leaves, Spencer tells his father that he’s hurting him again, and after everything he’s done, he’ll make sure he never hurts his brother or sister.

In Spring Ridge, Heather is holding and reading papers that Esme is looking at. She is shocked as it is custody papers and asks where did she get them. My name is explained by the baby’s father, Nicholas Cassadine. Heather is horrified and warns that the Cassadines are ruthless, and she should think twice about signing over her rights. Esme believes Nicholas when he says it’s only temporary until she gets out. Ryan is wheeling while Heather warns Esme that men lie all the time.

He notices my name is Ryan and thinks it is Kevin and gasps, “What happened to Dr. Collins?” Heather explains that he is Kevin’s dangerous twin, Ryan, and that he is locked up. Heather asks Esme again about the baby and why she is so anxious to give him away. Esme admits that she is not, and that baby is the only thing she has. She also knows with this baby, she’s not alone. Heather tells her that is why she cannot give up this child. Esme vows not to make any decisions until tomorrow.

Heather excuses herself for talking to Ryan and is angry at him for assuming he knew about Nicholas and didn’t tell her. She says Nicholas is after their grandson, and the police are down on him. She explains that Dante and Sam have been here and are looking for Esme’s nanny. You assume this nanny knows Ryan by the look in his eyes, so it’s time to head out and take Esme with them.

on the next Public Hospital: Dex feels he has really ruined Gus’ life. Liz Levine yelled that everything she had done was for nothing. Spencer asks his father why he always comes second. Ava thinks it’s time to look up for herself. Chase tells BLQ it must be done. She replied, “Don’t you mean to end with me?”
