Health care should be comprehensive, simple and affordable

In the United States, the average cost of health care per capita was $10,855 — twice the average cost of health care in Canada.

Hendrik Stegal is a fourth-year medical student at Columbus. He is also a member of USA Healthcare, a grassroots organization that promotes healthcare reform.

We Americans are known for our love of freedom, and healthcare is no exception.

We want our freedom to choose whether, who, and how much care we get. At least, that’s what we’ve been told Americans want.

In September 2021, Healthcare USA, an advocacy group of which I am a member, It polled 252 governors from across the country and asked them what they thought about our healthcare system.

We found that 95% wanted simpler healthcare and 99% wanted it more affordable. Not surprising, because our healthcare system is complex and expensive.
