This past New York Fashion Week season, a certain tennis icon brought the heat on the court to the Big Apple. IMG and Spring Studios partnered with Chase Sapphire on September 10 to activate the so-called client Big smash hitsa hybrid fashion and tennis experience featuring active fashion apparel brand Venus Williams Eleven by Venus Williams.
During two of New York City’s calendar highlights – the US Open and New York Fashion Week – Big smash hits It aims to celebrate the intersection between tennis and fashion through tennis match shows, fashion boards, cooking shows, and DJ sets. In the spirit of starting the series, Big smash hits I partnered with Williams and trainer Kira Stokes for a 15-minute sweat workout followed by a Q&A with Venus. Guests were also given the opportunity to watch a live performance of the US Open men’s final on the rooftop terrace of Spring Studios in Tribeca.
“Oh my God, my life isn’t balanced at all. It’s unbalanced. I’ve accepted it, and I’m fine with it. When you’re trying to achieve things in life, if you start thinking you’re going to be in balance, think again, that’s life. That’s how it is.” ,” Williams admitted to ESSENCE during New York Fashion Week when asked about balancing her commitments.
“Then you just have to find your own little balancing moments throughout your day to get ready for the next. I’m fine with that. When you do something that you love and love, it makes it a little easier and you have a great team around you. If you don’t have a great team around you, sure Not to the same extent.” Just a few weeks ago, she played against her sister and recently retired tennis player Serena Williams in the US doubles. Did we forget to mention that she runs a fully operational company?
No wonder Williams had to switch poses from entrepreneur and face brand EleVen to Fashion Week-goer fast, fast and in a hurry. “I know my schedule and I know what to do next, so I’m really ready for it. When I know what I have to do, I’m determined to do it. It’s like I’ve chosen to participate, so let’s step in,” Williams said.
While the world number one singles champion and seven-time Grand Slam champion remains booked and occupied, she remains humbly proud of the success of the active sportswear brand. Since its inception, EleVen has created capsule collections surrounding the premiere of Batman Starring Robert Pattinson and Zoe Kravitz, we teamed up with LOOK OPTIC to launch a limited edition Collection of unisex mineral frames, and in partnership with Credo Beauty for mineral sunscreen. Let’s not forget – she still plays tennis.
Williams is confident that the first set of EleVen’s collection has been well received by the masses, especially considering she put part of her own story on the set. “It’s all about my roots, and the roots of the people I admire and have influenced me growing up in California. It was like going back to our roots, going back to who I am, what I stand for, and what Eleven stands for, which is the pursuit of your best self,” Williams explained.
“To go after your best, you have to know who you are. That’s the story this really tells, our first landing was about my roots in California and actually Billie Jean King. She was from Long Beach. I’ve lived in Long Beach for the three years The first of my life, so it was like that kind of tennis player [and] California. “
When ESSENCE asked her which of her favorite black designers were on her list, she praised Sergio Hudson. In fact, she said she is “totally obsessed”.
“We wore some of his stuff in a Harper’s Bazaar wrap that we did recently, and I just wanted to keep it. I couldn’t. I laughed, thinking they were samples we had to return.” I tried a lot of his outfits for awards season too, and didn’t get a chance to wear them all, but I was drooping. It’s great to see this expression of creativity come out and how unique the sound is. That’s what we need for American determination now and I can’t wait to see what he does next.”
As far as what’s next for the Williams and EleVen commercials, she revealed to ESSENCE that she will be gearing up for her second and third towing. “Our main goal is to help people be healthy. There are a lot of definitions of being healthy — mentally, emotionally, physically, well, all different things,” she said.
“You need this part of wellness and in order to live your best life, strive for your best, you have to be good and happy. If you’re not, it makes it hard to be your best self. That’s what we want people, and that’s really what’s next. , All the time “.
