Best Red Carpet Dress at the 2023 Critics’ Choice Awards
From Michelle Yeoh to Lily James, see the best-dressed stars at the 28th Critics’ Choice Awards in Los Angeles.
For a night of minimalist fashion, many attendees opted for black gowns — but there were plenty of eye-catching silhouettes among them, from the asymmetric ruffles of Quinta Bronson’s character Robert Wone’s figure-hugging dress to Christian Siriano’s stunning Angela Bassett gown.
Elsewhere, metallics and sequins have proven popular. “The White Lotus” actress Aubrey Plaza dazzled in a sparkly Louis Vuitton gown with colorful gradient accents, while “The Woman King” star Thusso Mabidu donned a dress with gold, silver, and bronze embellishments, also from the French label. Candidates Amanda Seyfried and Sheryl Lee Ralph of Abbott Elementary School chose gold dresses for Dior and Jovana Lewis, respectively.
In a trend seen on recent red carpets, Elle Fanning and Janelle Monáe have been among the many stars who have donned cut-out dresses.
Evening men embraced a variety of shades, from Andrew Garfield’s camel-coloured Xenia suit to Henry Golding’s teal ensemble. Ke Huy Quan, Billy Eichner, and Harry Shum Jr. were the finalists. Among the many attendees who arrived in shades of burgundy, on a night that saw many male guests eschew the traditional black-tie dress code.
