The internet was stunned after a man “sabotaged” his ex-wife’s chances of getting a job in a new social media post.

The original poster (OP) began his story stating that he has been married to his wife for about a year. However, she has an ex-husband named “Joseph” with whom they share custody of their 15-year-old daughter “Mia”. The Redditor said that Joe loves to start drama in the family. The OP wrote, “She came and yelled at me accusing me if I was sabotaging her career and trying to control it while I ruined her reputation. I swore it had nothing to do with me, but said the company said her husband called them. He refused to reveal his contact information, and I thought it was Joseph especially when he alluded to it.

“He would usually call to brag after causing trouble and making me the bad guy. I didn’t wait for his call, I called him myself, put him on speakerphone and made my wife listen. He lured him into confessing/and bragging about impersonating me and spoiling my wife’s chance. My wife was mad at her leaving and he was There is a great controversy in his house.”

Called the OP saying he “set him up” and how his ex “wouldn’t get off her back” which also resulted in Mia not speaking to him either. He also told the OP that he should have “taken care of his own business” and how he “invaded his privacy”.

What is “defamation” and how to file a lawsuit

Defamation is the process of making false statements about someone to a third party that results in damage to that person’s reputation, as defined by Britannica. Defamation and libel are legal subcategories of defamation. Defamation is defamation written or broadcast while speaking slander is defamation.

According to kppblaw.com, these are the five elements of a defamation lawsuit:

  1. The person being defamed is clearly identified by the statement – not just a “blind element” where the defamation refers to a “certain person”.
  2. These statements had a negative impact on the person’s reputation.
  3. The information is clearly wrong.
  4. The defendant shared the information knowing it was false.

You can start a defamation lawsuit by meeting with a lawyer and showing them the evidence, according to alllaw.com. If the attorney believes the person has a viable case, the next step will be to file a defamation complaint and the defendant will be notified of a lawsuit. Plaintiff and defendant will answer questions under an oath called a filing. Negotiations begin shortly after the filings to see if they can come to an agreement, and if not, the case will go to trial.

redditor feedback

I asked U/LetThemEatHay, and received the top comment of over 10,000 upvotes, “[Not the a**hole], but I have to ask… Knowing how her ex-husband is, why did she immediately think that it was you and he was not the king with her. Did you sincerely apologize? “

“[Not the a**hole]. Is he angry with you? Honestly, I’ll go to the police, then to a lawyer – impersonate someone, vandalism, this is beyond conflict or “pranks” and should be closed now,” said u/Straight-Singer-2912.

“[Not the a**hole] And your spouse may want to speak to a lawyer. Seems to me it’s defamation,” commented u/HPNerd44.

“[Not the a**hole]. He’s only mad at you because he got caught. It is uncertain that you are “invading his privacy”, when Joseph is the only one who invades anyone’s privacy. I don’t know why you would be surprised that his actions had consequences. In the future, I would advise you and your spouse alike to alert employers and even Mia’s school about Joseph and that he has been known to call out and make up lies,” warned u/joywaveee OP.
