Virginia Tech vs. Miami odds
Two of the best offensive teams in the ACC will face off on Tuesday night in Coral Gables, Fla., when the Miami Hurricanes host the Virginia Tech Hokies.
Just like last year, Virginia Tech got off to a slow start in conference play and was on the wrong end of several close games. The Hokies rallied last season, eventually winning the ACC tournament and participating in the Big Dance.
If the last two rounds are any indication, there is reason to believe VT can once again enjoy a strong February and return to championship picture.
Tech beat Duke in a tight game, then dominated Syracuse from start to finish Saturday night.
Meanwhile, Miami returns home after a three-game road trip. The Canes finished 1-2 in this stretch, losing narrowly to both Duke and Pittsburgh.
It was the Pitt game in particular that the Hurricanes let slip.
Jim Larranaga’s team will be on the rebound, which has been a friendly place for him all year. Miami has yet to lose two straight games at any point this season.

Wright State transfer Grant Basile continues to give VT some inside scoring and defense, and very few players are more seasoned than Justyn Mutts.
Virginia Tech is not an elite defensive team due to its total personnel, but it has the potential to be a very effective offensive unit. Passing and ball movement have been on full display over the past week.
Miami can really score it, so the same level of proficiency is going to be needed to outpace the Hurricanes on this one.
What is the main reason Miami hasn’t lost consecutive games all season? You’d be hard-pressed to find many better backcourts in America than the duo of Isaiah Wong and Nijel Pack.
Both are experienced, and each can score in all three levels. It took the Pack a while to sync up with Larranaga’s offensive style coming from Kansas State, but he’s been really effective in recent weeks.
Commodores Norshad O’Meyer gives the Hurricanes an athletic forward who can do a little bit of everything on either end.
The weakness of this Miami group is on the defensive end. Canes is still out of the top 100 in ADDE, which is a cause for concern against a Virginia Tech team that has plenty of shooters.
Miami also gives up a high percentage of offensive rebounds, which is another area that might make them vulnerable against a beautiful hockey sports team.
If the Hurricanes want to make another deep run in March, they need to stick to the defensive end.
Virginia Tech vs. Miami Pick bet
Both offenses have an advantage in this match, so I certainly wouldn’t be against playing in this match. However, with a relatively high total of 144, I think the safest bet is Virginia Tech.
Mike Young’s team knows they should be close to perfecting the rest of the way as a result of their seven-game losing streak, so I think you’ll see another Hokies center effort in this game.
Virginia Tech has looked like a different team in its last two games, and it should be able to continue that level of offensive proficiency against Miami’s mediocre defense.
Miami Court’s home advantage is one of the least intimidating in the ACC, and Virginia Tech has been a very good road team in recent years.
I think the Hokies have a great chance of winning this game outright, so I’ll gladly support Tech in picking up points.
